Loch Stonaig

Not far from Columba's Bay is Loch Stonaig, which used to provide drinking water for the island.

(Now the water supply is piped from the island of Mull.)

Spring is in the Air!

A glorious day of sunshine here on Iona! I wore sandals for the first time this year!

The Bay at the Back of the Ocean

A day of sunshine for hikng, exploring the west side of the island and even a little paddling (with my feet, that is, but just for a few minutes!).

Easter Sunday at Iona Abbey... the cross carried around the island on Good Friday now stands in the cloisters, transformed by daffodils into a riot of colour and life.

Standing Stones

Some days the blue of the sea and sky could not be more perfect. A generous sprinkling of fresh snow on the hills of Mull and a large dollop of sunshine. What more could anyone ask for?
